Obituary:
It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our Father, Opa and Great Opa who passed away September 16, 2022, at the age of 81.
Dutchy is survived by his three sons; Rene (Pat), Chris (Christa), and Jamie, grandchildren; Jared, Gavin, Brandon (Brittany), Meagan, and Adam, great grandchildren; Reiken and Raiden. 3 brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews and countless close friends.
He had joined the Air Force in 1958, in Saskatoon, where he met his beloved wife, Dianne. They were married in 1962 and moved to Goose Bay, NFLD and started their family. In 1964 they moved to Edmonton where he became a firefighter, for the City of Edmonton for 32 years. In 1980 he joined the Fort Saskatchewan Legion and worked as part of the Executive with the Legion and helped many over the 42 years he was a member.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Dr. Turner Lodge, as well as the staff at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital for the kindness, support and care shown to Dutchy.
Cremation has taken place and an immediate family interment of his cremated remains will happen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Fort Saskatchewan Legion, Branch #27
There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Dutchy, to be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on October 1st, 2022 at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hall-Normandy Room 9964-93 Ave., Fort Saskatchewan, AB.
