Retired Captain Bruce Colby passed away

Rest Easy

Robin Bruce Colby (Bruce) Nov17,1944 - May 23, 2022

On the 23rd of May 2022, Bruce Robin Colby departed from life at the age of 78; he is predeceased by his wife, Diane, and their two children Melanie and Blaine, all of whom he loved deeply.
Bruce grew up in Coronado, Alberta, where he was the youngest of five children raised on a farm by parents Dorothy and George. He completed his education in Coronado before eagerly moving on to become an enlisted sailor in 1963, being stationed in beautiful Victoria, BC. After a few years at sea, Bruce changed careers and became a City of Edmonton Firefighter in 1966. After retirement, Bruce and his wife Diane settled into new villas in Leduc, Alberta, where they were able to establish a community and meaningful relationships with their close neighbors.

Bruce had a great passion for life and lived for fun. He spent his time boating on Alberta lakes with his family and did road trips cruising along the highway in his candy red Chevy Impala convertible, something of which tied into his fondest hobby: tinkering with and working on vehicles. Bruce's goal was to wear shorts and sandals 365 days a year (bless his heart), leading him and Diane to start their travels as south pacific coast snowbirds.

We can forget a lot of things, but we can never forget you, Bruce. May your soul finally rest in peace...
