It is with heavy hearts we pass along that Active Fire Captain Ryan McDermid passed away the evening of May 1st at the age of 48 after a year and a half long battle with cancer. Our sincerest condolences go out to Ryans' wife Janet, daughters Emily and Jorja, family, friends, and his colleagues during this difficult time.
Ryan joined our fire service in 2005. He spent the majority of his career on Platoons 3 & 4, working all across the city, including 4 years at Station 10 in
Hazmat as a technician.

A Celebration of Ryan’s Life will be held on Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 11:00 am at OTS Park, 2104 – 156 Street SW, Edmonton.
