Retired Captain Omar Williams passing

It is with a heavy heart, that the family of Omar Ernie Williams, announce his sudden passing in Lac La Biche, Alberta on January 6, 2023. He was 70 years old. He was a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend.

Left to mourn his loss and cherish so many memories, is his loving family: Leona Anderson (sister), Gilbert Williams (brother), Teresa St. Amand (sister), Rose Martinell (sister) and all members of his extended family. He is predeceased by Denise Williams (sister), Myrtle Williams (sister), and Brenda Williams (sister).

He was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He lived his life with honesty, integrity, and calm positive energy. He was a retired Edmonton Firefighter. In his retirement he enjoyed bird watching, road trips, driving taxi, watching sports (especially the NFL), and learning about alternative medicines. He also enjoyed learning about healthcare innovations and possibilities for improving wellness in unconventional ways.

Mainly, he enjoyed peaceful solitude throughout his life, with occasional visits with family. He found comfort in his worship and fellowship at the Al Kareem Mosque in Lac La Biche, Alberta over the last few years of his life. We appreciate all the kindness he found there. He considered himself a follower of the teachings of Allah, the divinity at the heart of Islam. He was a man who loved an adventure and he enjoyed traveling to other countries. He enjoyed learning the customs and cultures of other places.

His legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts that show caring for one another and we should lend a helping hand whenever possible. He was a man loved by all who came to know him. He will be missed, but never - ever forgotten.
